This post may upset some, and will probably come off slightly (or very) pretentious but it needs to be said.
Can we STOP using the word "mograph"?
Where did it come from? did the guys behind mograph.net coin it? or c4d's "mograph" tools?
I believe it was started at a time when motion graphics (which is already short for motion graphic design) was brand new. And just like a new neighborhood it had it's trendy name (ie The Lofts at SoDoSoPa). But it's not a neighborhood. And the word dated horribly.
Do any other creative industries have such an obnoxious abbreviation? graph-des? prod-des? arch-ture? anna-maiche?
Would you ever hear someone say "I just got a prod-des gig at herman miller!"? Probably not.
I think to help establish it as a respected industry in the way graphic design is, which it's getting there, we need to banish this word and have a little more dignity. Also - it's all animation anyway... but one step at a time. ;)
I respect a lot of people who use the word, so don't take this as a jab.
That's just my opinion, what do you guys think??
