Forgive me if this subject has been discussed before, but I'd love to hear from those of you who are working full-time (whether freelance or staff) with small children.
I have a 2 1/2 year old and an 8 month old. I work freelance full-time, and I've recently taken the step to rent a desk at a cowork, because all of that chaos mashed together with my workday was a disaster. My wife works part time, also from home, and somehow keeps our kids alive at the same time.
I love my sons very much. They've probably also taken about a decade off my life expectancy at this point. Even with some daycare, I end up cutting my workday short most days to help put out some fire.
Meanwhile, my work and my development has definitely suffered. Motion graphics takes so much time and focus, and it's been difficult to keep up.
I hope this doesn't sound like I'm just complaining about my kids. Really, they are wonderful, brilliant, smart, adorable little people. They also have taken turns throwing up on us this week. Repeatedly.
I know some of you have been through this same situation and survived. If there's any wisdom you could share, I'd love to hear it. Thanks in advance!
