I feel like understanding the principals of physical comedy will help me become a better motion designer. Also, Rowan Atkinson is amazing.
I totally showed that Nerdwriter Video essay on Rowan Atkinson to my Motion students this week. We talked about how, in motion design(and animation of course), type and quality of movement is just as important as the way it looks. Paired with Richard Williams' concept of "Believability". Believability/Personality/Character = Attitude/Emotion + Movement.
Or Quality of Movement(where and when) + Quality of Emotion(visual and sound) = Personification/Sympathetic to an Audience.
The beginnings of thinking about what types of movement vernacular become appropriate, when. I'd definitely love to build some kind of semi-organized movement-types catalog. I have no idea where I'd start with that.
