I've just released my latest demoreel a couple of weeks ago and would love to get some feedback.
I transitioned from a staff position at State Design (great experience) to remote freelancing from Brazil at State and other awesome studios like Tendril and Buck (can't complain either).
Having gone through some new challenges I decided to reflect about what was the single most difficult thing on Remote Freelancing. My conclusion is Making Yourself Available.
When I was in a staff position I just had to sit at my desk and that automatically made me available for my boss and co-workers. Now being available means actively checking Slack, emails and a plethora of channels every 15 minutes (even Facebook and WhatsApp in some extreme cases) and that can be disruptive in a creative line of work like ours.
But that's the nature of working remotely and we should learn how to use our tools to make it so.
Would love to know what you guys think about it and how do you cope with remote work reality.
