I'm leaving my safe job and stepping out into the world of freelance next month. Most of my clients as a moonlighter have been either direct or by referral from design buddies. In the past couple months though, I've come across 3 separate groups who claim to have this "new model" for freelance work. They are all relatively the same: They collect freelancers then pair groups of designers, animators, developers, etc. with a client need. You charge your normal rate or in some cases a premium that goes back to the company organizing these freelancers.
It seems different than Working Not Working because all of these are local groups. Maybe it's a nice way to get new work, maybe it's a trap! No hate if you own one of these, just trying to sort it out.
Anyone care to share advice or experience?
