This might be an ignorant question, but is advertising, across all mediums, really effective? Is it worth the millions, or billions of dollars companies spend on advertising year after year? I've been pondering this question in my head for about a year now after one of my best friends asked me, "Does all that advertising stuff you guys do really work?" I'm a motion designer and video editor at an ad agency and sometimes I too catch myself wondering, "Will this ad even get noticed?...Is it worth it?" Personally, before I buy anything, I usually dive deep into research and figure out what product I want to purchase over another. One could argue that advertising leads me to do this research, but does it? I can't even remember the last ad I saw on TV, in a magazine, online, or anywhere else for that matter. Thoughts on this?
